Tax Help for Low-Income and Elderly Taxpayers

AARP Vita will be providing tax appointments in 2018 for low-income and elderly patrons.
We will begin to take appointments in January 2018.

The AARP VITA Tax Aide program offers low-income and elderly taxpayers help in preparing and filing Federal and State personal income tax returns. They also help with Pennsylvania Property Tax/Rent Rebate forms.

Appointments are handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The information below is from 2017.
Appointments for 2018 will begin in January 2018.

Where: Horsham Township Library
When: every Thursday from 10 AM to 3 PM from February 2 through April 13, 2017
How to sign up: library's check-out desk or call 215-443-2609 to make an appointment.
Bring the following items with you to your appointment:
Social Security cards for yourself and all dependents (Spouse, Children, etc.) to be claimed on your return
Your W-2 form (wage & tax statement)
Interest & dividend statements from banks & investments
Statements of your Social Security income, pension, and/or IRA income
Information about deductible expenses (such as medical bills and donations to charity)
Proof of health insurance coverage
If possible, a copy of your previous year's tax return

Tax Forms and Information

Federal Tax Forms and Information from the Internal Revenue Service

The IRS announced that is is substantially reducing the number and variety of tax forms and publications it will be sending to libraries beginning in 2016. The Horsham Township Library will supply what it can as long as supplies are available from the IRS.
ll tax forms and information booklets are available to be downloaded and printed from the IRS website.
State and local forms are also available from the Pennsylvania Dept. of Revenue and from Berkheimer Associates, the administrator for Horsham Township's earned income tax.
Library patrons may print tax forms and instructions at their own expense (20¢ per page) from library Internet computers.

The full range of Federal tax forms can be down-loaded from the IRS website. Many of these are in a .PDF format that will permit you to enter information into the form on-line. The entire library of Federal tax information booklets is available at this website.
