Horsham Library Picnic Day & Chili Cookoff

Posted on Thursday July 27, 2017

Bring the family for a traditional backyard style picnic at the Horsham Library!

Here we will hold a most delicious fundraiser that pits chefs and home cooks in a battle to make the best chili in Horsham Township! We don't expect you to give away your secrets, though (but you will need to provide an ingredient list to the judges)! Join us on September 9, 2017 for this delicious celebration.

This competition is more about Pride than Prize, but both will be included in this Tricentennial Event!  The winner will receive a “Ladle of Glory” Trophy to proudly take home and a “Golden Chili “ plaque to be displayed in the library as an archive to the accomplishment of the cook for hopefully the next 300 years!

This will be a limited entry event. Teams will register on a FIRST COME/ FIRST SERVED basis.  Team Registration Fee of $20 is due at time of application.  Once payment and registration is complete confirmation e-mail will be sent to save your place at the event. See the end of this posting for registration information.

The proceeds of the cook-off will go to the charity of choice by the winner.

Judging will occur by a panel and by popular community vote roughly following ICS (International Chili society) rules based on “good chili flavor, texture, consistency, blend of spices, aroma and color.”

The overall best will receive the prize and bragging rights of being named Horsham Township’s Tricentennial Library Chili Cook-Off Champion!

Of course, this picnic will be much more - including a variety of foods, traditional backyard games, and a movie at 1PM inside the library.
